I am extremely happy with my stay here. I came to Shanghai just me and my toddler. The hotel felt clean, inviting, well decorated for the Lunar New Year 🧧. The breakfast had an amazing variety and I loved the restaurant style set up. The best part of my stay was the hotel staff, especially management. I had one displeasing experience with Room Service. They went out of their way to make it right and show appreciation for my business. They knew my son and I loved fruit from watching us at breakfast lol.. So they sent up a special fruit basket to us which we definitely ate it all. The staff helped us figure out tv, order food and supplies when we needed it. They have a cool robot that delivers you your food. I never got tired of that. I stayed a total of 6 days. I started to feel like a resident lol. They also have laundry facilities that free to use. I have no critiques. The room was spacious and plenty of space for all the bags I brought lol. If I had any notes, I really wished they had an indoor pool on site. I experienced 4 star service for a hotel with 3 star budget. I think they should be given another star

SSAW Boutique Hotel Shanghai is very much a ‘you get what you pay for’ kind of place. The location is convenient and the rooms are clean and functional, but nothing feels premium. Room size, amenities, and overall comfort are fairly basic for the price. Breakfast is acceptable, not great, and service is polite but standard. It works fine if you just need a decent place to sleep in a good location, but don’t expect anything beyond that.

Our 4-night stay was a mix of great convenience and some frustrating maintenance issues. The hotel is clean, spacious, and boasts a fantastic strategic location, making it incredibly easy to visit major attractions like Yu Garden and The Bund. The beds were very comfortable, and the laundry facilities—featuring two washers and two dryers—were a major convenience. Additionally, the staff were wonderful; they were consistently helpful with our food deliveries, parcel collections, and luggage handling. While the staff were responsive in facilitating help, we had ongoing trouble with the toilet flush. Even though a technician was sent up quickly, the repairs were only temporary fixes, requiring us to call for assistance three separate times during our stay. This caused a bit of a disturbance to our trip. We also found the TV system misleading. Programs were labeled as “free for viewing,” but they would cut off after 20 minutes and prompt for payment, which was quite frustrating. The breakfast service and variety left room for improvement. I requested a refill for the soy milk, but it remained empty even 30 minutes later.

This hotel is in a great location, an easy 10min stroll from Yu Gardens and the market, plus the metro stop which takes you everywhere in the city quickly and easily. The room was a good size, clean, with a very comfy bed and nice bathroom. There was a bit of lack of privacy with the semi closed Venetian blind forming the 'wall' between bathroom and bedroom - you can't adjust this as its sandwiched between the glass. Bottled water was provided daily. The air conditioning didn't get especially cool, the room gets fairly stuffy, especially after using the shower. The breakfast was excellent with a good mix of western and Chinese hot and cold options. The laundry facility was great, free to use and you don't have to buy detergent however it was in constant use.

SSA Boutique Hotel Shanghai is an absolute standout. From the moment you arrive, you can tell this hotel focuses on comfort, style, and great service. The rooms are beautifully designed modern, cosy, and extremely clean with thoughtful touches that make the stay feel premium. The bed was super comfortable, and the bathroom amenities were top quality. The staff were friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with anything. Check-in was smooth, and communication was easy throughout my stay. The hotel has a very calm, boutique vibe, which makes it perfect for relaxing after a long day of exploring Shanghai. Location-wise, it’s excellent — close to transport, restaurants, cafés, and all the essentials. It’s convenient without being noisy, which is a big plus. Overall, SSA Boutique Hotel offers comfort, style, and great value in the heart of Shanghai. Highly recommended I’d definitely stay again.
